My name is Rosa Cardenas, LCSW. I am a school and clinical bilingual social worker. I work with the school assessment team assigned to PS81. My role in the team is to interview parents when the process of evaluation for special services starts, I also conduct class observations as part of the assessments. While in the process of evaluation I make sure the needed resources and referrals are offered to parents. In addition, I explain to the parents their rights when a student is evaluated.

I am a Bilingual Spanish School Psychologist whose primary role is to evaluate students and analyze data in order to determine eligibility for Special Education Services.

In addition, I consult and collaborate with teachers, social worker, parents and related service providers in order to meet student's needs. In the evaluation process, I use my Bilingual Spanish background and my expertise in diversity and multiculturism to support and advocate for the parents of PS81Q. I also chair meetings with the parents and team members in order to present the results of the evaluations to the parents in a professional and easy to understand manner.

Bilingual Spanish Family Worker - My primary role is to work with the School Assessment Team in the Special Education Department (Hablo Espanol)

Part of my functions as a family worker is helping the team by scheduling meetings, outreaching, and assisting parents with the evaluation paperwork via email, phone calls, fax and in person. I also work with teachers and other staff members in collecting necessary paperwork for the special education process.

Theresa Baldi is the IEP/Intervention Teacher (formerly known as IEP Teacher). She supports students with or without IEPs, who have difficulty in academic areas. This support can be provided through intervention or Special Education Teacher Support Services. (SETSS for those students with IEPs).
