Students at PS 81 recently indulged their curiosity (and their taste buds!) during an exciting Chocolate Workshop that blended history, science, and fun. Through hands-on exploration, students learned about the fascinating history of chocolate — from its ancient origins with the Maya and Aztec civilizations, who used cacao in sacred rituals and as currency, to its journey across the Atlantic where it evolved into the delicious treat we enjoy today.
During the workshop, students experienced the chocolate-making process firsthand — grinding cacao beans, mixing ingredients, and tasting the final product. The day was both educational and delicious, leaving everyone with a deeper appreciation for how chocolate has shaped cultures around the world and continues to bring joy to all!
